Bloom Wellness Collective – Expressive Arts Adult Day Program

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

It is a day designed to explore and tap into the creative soul through dance & fitness, yoga & mindfulness, music & rhythm and interactive group & social games. A portion of the day will revolve around dance and yoga-based content, while the other part of the day will be spent exploring ever-evolving learner-led interests and hands-on activities that offer purposeful engagement—time spent in the community, whether in a volunteer role or navigating the city mindfully as independent adults is also an essential aspect of our program. Our intent for this day program is to foster meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals while spending the day purposefully and interactively, stimulating mind, body and soul.

Please note: Participants must attend with their OWN support worker unless fully independent in the washroom, at meal times and in following directions.

Ages: 18 – 24 years

Program Dates: September 12 – November 28, 2023 (10:00 – 3:00 PM)

Bloom Wellness Collective – Dance for Physical Needs

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

This one-of-a-kind program offers those with physical disabilities the opportunity to break physical barriers through dance while fostering social connections through movement-based social games. The longer class time allows for organic interactions to be embraced as participants playfully connect to their bodies and the endless ways their bodies can move. Using dance as a catalyst for connection, this program is meant to nurture friendships, offering a sense of belonging in a warm and inclusive environment. This program is catered to participants with physical needs including, but not limited to, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida or other physical mobility challenges.

Ages: 13 – 21 years

Program Dates: October 5 – December 7, 2023 (5:45 – 7:15 PM)

Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary – AAFS Podcast Club

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

AAFS Podcast Club helps teach youth the ins and outs of hosting the AAFSCast, an audio variety show hosted by four rotating Members from the AAFS Community – ranging from favourite foods to history, The AAFSCast and Podcast Club are sure to entertain.

Ages: 13 – 21 years

Program Dates: September 6 – October 11, 2023 (6:30 PM – 8:30 PM)

Location: AAFS South Clubhouse (8228 Macleod Trail SE Unit 220, Calgary)

Cost: $60.00 (service fee: 2 hours Respite or Community Aide Fee per program date (subject to change according to PDD/FSCD instructions.)

CP Kids & Families – Music & Movement

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

On Monday mornings throughout the fall, we are once again offering Music and Movement, a lively program for children 0-5 years. The morning consists of a 30-minute stretch with Calgary Youth Physio, 45 minutes of music therapy with Jimmy from Lively Up Yourself, and a nutrition/coffee break in between to socialize and connect with other families.

Ages: 2 – 5 years

Program Dates: September 25 – November 27, 2023 (9:30 – 11:00 AM) (no session Thanksgiving)

Cost: $120.00 full program ($15 drop-in)

Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta – Dance Without Limits

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

Each class is tailored to the individual’s abilities. They will learn different styles with the support of dance instructors and volunteers. This program is run in partnership with Ballet Edmonton and instructed by a dance therapist.

Ages: All ages

Program Dates: September 16 – December 2, 2023 (4:00 – 5:00 p.m.) (no class Thanksgiving or Remembrance Day)

Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta – Gleeful Gardening

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

Our Fall session has participants maintaining a garden with various vegetables, herbs, and flowers. They will harvest produce grown in the CPAA garden. Various experimental growing projects will stimulate thought and encourage creativity. Outdoor activities exercise the body and promote awareness of nature. To increase a sense of accomplishment and responsibility, individuals can receive seeds, plants and produce to take home (all materials are supplied).

Ages: All ages

Program Dates: July 24 – October 30, 2023 (10:30 – 12:30 p.m.) (no class Thanksgiving)

Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta – Heart and Soul / Right Notes Music Therapy Programs

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

Participants learn, listen and Interact with various songs, styles, and instruments within a group setting. Individuals are encouraged to sing, play instruments and choose songs in a supportive environment. Music therapy allows for self-expression, increasing self-confidence. Valuable social connections are made through in-person social interaction.

Ages: 18+ years

Program Dates: August 9 – October 27, 2023/November 8, 2023 – January 31, 2024 (10:00 – 11:00 a.m.) (no session December 20 – 23, 2023)

Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta – Art FUNdamentals

Programming Season: Fall 2023

Program Description:

Have fun through new creative and sensory experiences! Participants explore a variety of materials and art-making techniques, such as pencil on paper, acrylic paint on canvas, and sculptures using wood, plaster and clay. Individuals experience a sense of accomplishment when projects are completed. Valuable social connections are made through in-person social interaction.

Ages: 18+ years

Program Dates: August 19 – October 26, 2023/November 2, 2023 – January 25, 2024 (10:00 – 12:00 p.m.)
